~ New Wine 2011 N&E ~

I just received an email with a youtube link of some of the musical worship at NewWine 2011 N&E. Yes, it does feature some of my dulcet tones! I had the most amazing time. The team were incredible, it was so much fun doing ministry with what felt like life long friends and an incredible priviledge to help put praise on the lips over 3,000+ people! Enjoy.

~ Quick Tip // Punctuality ~

As part of the ‘Quick Tip’ series, this month’s post is all about punctuality. Lord Nelson once said… ‘I owe all my success in life to having been always a quarter of an hour before my time.’ I really think there is something in this. I believe punctuality is not only good for the obvious reasons of politeness but pastorally. One thing a lot of people say to me ...

~ Watch Your Step ~

One of my passions is to see people who lead musical worship do so with integrity, understanding and faithfulness. I’ve just been reflecting on some of the ‘traps’ out there ready to lure/snatch/hold unguarded worship leaders. These are in no particular order (apart from first one) as they are all equally damaging. Forgetting that it’s all about Jesus, not you Thinking Ch...

~ ‘People Over Programme’ ~

One of the phrases I use a lot to speak about our worship ministry is that It’s about ‘people over programme’. I really believe we need to be building healthy teams of people who know they are valued and will be invested in – not just there to fill a slot/role. Here are a few practical ways we implement this at St G’s. (as always, forgive my writing/punctuation ...

~ Importance Of Vision ~

Here are some notes from a talk I gave to our team on our vision, to ‘know God and make him known’. I thought some of it could be useful to others? So here it is! CLOSER TO THE VISION – To know Him and make Him known. WHY VISION? You ask any CEO, managing director what the heartbeat of their organisation / company is, more often than not you will get the reply ‘vision...

~ Quick Tip // Lower Case ~

Ok this is a really quick, ‘quick tip’ For those involved in leading occasional worship with young kids, learn from my mistake! Always use lower case for the projection words! I was asked to lead worship in our church for a kids event and I designed a beautiful all singing all dancing powerpoint for the words and did it in caps because the font was awesome. Little did I think that with...

~ Quick Tip // Tempo ~

I thought it may be helpful to do a new ‘Quick Tip’ feature starting with a tip around ‘tempo’. A lot of leaders I come across struggle with setting the tempo of songs – (mostly with going too fast!) A classic example is ‘Our God is greater’ (water you turned into wine) where people start too fast and when they get to the tag ‘and if our God is for u...
