~ A matter of the heart ~
As I read scripture, one the things I believe worship is about is the heart. Our relationship with God must be far more than just a theory, head knowledge or ‘right answers’ (Or duty for that matter). I came across an amazing statement in 2 Chronicles 25:2 about Amaziah – A king of Judah who reigned in Jerusalem for 29 years.
2′And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not with a whole heart’.
What an amazing but scary statement statement to find. Anything could have been said about him, his great victories, his mess ups, but the main thing of interest to God was his heart (or lack of it) behind all he did. In contrast we read in Acts 13:22 (amongst other places) about David, the greatest King of Israel.
‘I have found in David the son of Jesse(D) a man after my heart,(E) who will do all my will’.
TWO Kings, TWO Outcomes , ONE difference – the heart. The heart matters to God, how’s yours?
This morning I was reading Deuteronomy 30 – this verse stood out (v6)
“The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!”
Co-incidence?
